Symptothermale Methode

Ovy’s algorithm is based on the scientifically recognized symptomthermal method (NFP). There is no need to know the rules by heart as Ovy does the maths for you. The most important data for the calculation of your fertile window and day of ovulation is your basal body temperature and your cervical mucus or alternatively the position of your cervix. Other body signals help Ovy to get to know your menstrual cycle better. Start a new cycle by tracking the first day of your period.

  1. 1. In the first half of your menstrual cycle your temperature level is lower. After ovulating the basal temperature rises and stays up until the beginning of your next period. The ovulation takes place 48 hours before temperature increase.

  2. 2. You may track your cervical mucus during the day. The discharge can be observed between cleaned fingers or when you wipe toilet paper along your vagina. Some even have a strong sense where they feeling the consistency.

  3. 3. You can touch your cervix by inserting two fingers in your vagina. This can be an alternative way to your cervical mucus obersavation. While the day of ovulation is approaching, your cevix opens up and it feels softer.

  4. 4. Some factors can influence your basal temperature. Therefore interfering signals such as sick days, alcohol consumption or sleep disturbance to name a few must be tracked in the Ovy app for a better prediction.
